About......
I come from a painting and drawing background and have always liked the drama of the human form.
Whilst studying for a BA in General Art at Cal State Long Beach I was introduced to textiles and stitch by a Japanese teacher. Shortly after returning to England I pursued this area and went on to experiment with different combinations of textile and paint to initially portray the nude. Working with these materials opened up a whole new way of working which allowed a great deal more freedom and also made me realise how important texture is to my work.
I use a combination of fabric, paper, thread, paint, fabric dyes, wax crayons, charcoal – in fact anything that will suit my purpose. At the moment my work is based on various papers stitched together to create a surface to paint and stitch into.
Now living in the Cotswolds my work is exhibited mostly through galleries and art fairs but I can also be contacted for commissions.
